The “goldalarm” of my URL (which I’m rather afraid reads as “golda larm,” not what I’m intending) is from a poem, “To Marcus Aurelius” by Zbigniew Herbert. I don’t remember how I stumbled upon it, ages ago, just its first six lines. They’ve stayed with me all these years.

Good night Marcus put out the light
and shut the book For overhead
is raised a gold alarm of stars
heaven is talking some foreign tongue
this the barbarian cry of fear
your Latin cannot understand
